or who needs fantasy, alternative history, physics etc.

Which is the real waste of time and effort: daydreaming of swords and spells, discourse on the shape of the Earth or perpetuum mobile, or loans, shopping, careers, degrees? We are coming back to reality.

While people go to work in a factory or on a field and think that, even if this does not improve their life, it will not at least make it worse, everything, including the work, takes its course. When necessary, they go to the right church, read the recommended books written by the recommended authors, take the prescribed medications, etc. When it turns out that the more one has worked, the worse they get, everything sets in motion gradually. It turns out that one should either go to a different church or understand holy texts differently, one should either read other authors or other books of the same authors. Light tremor starts around the edges of the world view. Towards the centre, it gains the strength of a hurricane.

To understand who really needs all those things, first it is necessary to define who is who. Of course, we imply humans. However, who are humans? If we are talking about exemplars of Homo Sapiens, there are no groups of this species that would not exclude some other such groups from among humans for various reasons. For example, racists regard both people of different colour (or other less distinct features) and internationalists (whose views are opposite to racists’) as non-humans. In return, internationalists do not consider racists as human beings because of the stance of the latter. The same holds for religion, gender, age, etc. For example, no one can explain why a human becomes a human only after birth, and prior to that we do not give them even the rights of animals. From this point of view, every internationalist that does not recognise as a human those who are not born yet is also a backward ageist. Any arguments in favour of ageism are not different from those of racism, therefore, such internationalists are just as bad as racists, sexists etc.

This may sound a bit confusing but this is true.

So, a human being is definitely not a Homo Sapiens. On the other hand, when we see traces of manufacturing processes, we are always confident that they have definitely been left by a human. Here it is important to mention the results of such research method as science fiction. We are ready to consider, both legally and emotionally, the creatures of any look as humans as long as they are engaged in manufacturing. We apply to them the same requirements as to representatives of our own kind. In this case, it makes sense to side with the official science: humans differ from animals in their ability to create tools. This is not true for a stick and a stone: they are used and even made by many animal species. However, a stone tied to a stick, that is a stone axe, draws a clear dividing line between humans and animals. On the other hand, there is no member of society who is not involved in public production in one way or another. But this is not the main thing. The main thing is that some members of society do not regard those who produce as full persons. On this basis, they identify each other, flock together, and sometimes dominate others. More people are involved in production than in appropriation. It is relatively easy to betray “producers” by taking control over society and transfer the control to those “proprietors”. Societies to which this misfortune happens become the subject of archaeological studies at a relatively short time. Archaeologists from ruling classes are pleased to examine someone else’s past, having no clue that this is their own future.

Progressives complain that science fiction is replaced by fantasy, scientific perception – by different alternative speculations. In general, what is the source of human progress? It is one simple thing, namely human ability to create illusions, images of non-existent reality. Indeed, a house or a PC are just illusions filled with material, which tries to escape from these illusions to its own reality. Therefore, everything requires regular maintenance in order to get it back to the illusion from its reality. “No!” – one exclaims, – “these are not illusions but engineering projects!”. Indeed, we qualify highly specified illusions as projects, however, they are no different than a hut on chicken legs or a magic sword. Another example is money. Why do we think that we can give or receive something in exchange for money?! This is just an illusion. It did not exist in old times and will cease to exist in future. People will live without it as they used in old times or even better. This is a particularly poisonous illusion.

What do the lords own? Factories and lands? Let them grab those. They are unable to do so because no one can actually own those. They have taken possession of the products of our imagination rather than the property, and then we imagined their right to all the property. There are two things terrifying them most. The first is that we realise that all those are the products of our imagination so that we’ll invent something better. The second is that we stop thinking how to serve them better. That is why the mind police (teachers, psychologists, film-makers, writers, columnists) are in a rush: think but don’t you dare invent! After this, one has to invent something more interesting.

Science fiction? Dream about another great machine, which will be owned by a self-appointed lord? No way! Just you and the external world is enough. You do not even need a sword. If you deserve it, they will bring it to you. Your main goal should be to make yourself well-deserved, reinvent yourself in your own mind as a well-deserved person. Lords will be pleased: at the best 8 hours of your day, you are a servile lackey of them. Only in evenings, at your miserable shack, in order to suppress dark thoughts, you imagine yourself as a proud elf-archer.

In order to live in a world free of lords, one has to invent it first. Inventing based on what lords made them memorise at school is impossible because that was the whole purpose of school. First and foremost, one has to restore their ability to invent, invent in their own way, not on lords’ orders. At the beginning, the elf-archer way will suffice, followed then by Daenerys’ warmest greetings to the High Lords. Hopefully, you do not imagine yourself as her dragon but look at the world through her eyes. In day time, there is a till, a shoe counter, office papers. However, you already know that the world can be revamped. Later, one can dream together with the Law student Marx, the high-school student Ulyanoff, the seminary student Dzhugashvili, the under-age workers Budyonny and Voroshilov, the ordinary librarian Mao, and the free motorcyclist Che Guevara. Don’t you identify the three volumes of “the Capital” as the fire-breathing dragons? You need to practice more. Improve your fight magic, train your clairvoyance. Don’t you rather see the volumes of the Capital in the dragons? Apparently, you have been bewitched, along with your school certificate and diploma. Immediately say a spell against the charm! You do not know it? Then fabricate one! In the beginning, Marx did not know either.

Well, don’t you like a history in which you are a slave? Would you like the one in which you are a lord? The one in which you from the first history will finally drown the second you in shit. The purpose of poor and boring fantasy composed by historical sciences is indeed to prevent anyone from creating anything else. It is impossible that for thousands of years people have been living in loathing of their own lives. Humans do not live like that. It is an open question: which history is alternative (or, if literally translated, “counter-natural”)? Not only the history but also the meanings of words have been mangled. So far we can use what we have.

In future, we need an alternative history, where we deserve self respect. However, history has no givens, neither in the past, nor in the future. Anyone can wish freedom and declare themselves free but this will not add more freedom. Only those will be free who can imagine the existing reality. Since the word “imagine” may sound confusing, let’s say “understand”. One can understand in different ways or not understand at all because any understanding is a fiction. Real understanding can be achieved by receiving answers from reality. It is better to refrain from experimenting with really important things because there may remain no one to interpret the results. However, it is dangerous to leave things unchanged as they tend to turn into their opposite. For example, a car that used to carry and please you cannot be left as is: its substance leaves your illusion, and it “breaks down” without a chance for repair of any kind. In any case, the substance of the car will drag you into its reality. In reality, there are no cars but only the stones with significant amounts of iron or copper oxides, oil, and gas. To this exact state the substance forming a fictional car strives for return, along with the contents. Some machines we build are not on wheels. They are very large and stationary, for example, nuclear and hydro power units. Servicing them does not tolerate any experiments at all: every move must be clear and precise. The same applies to social machines composed of ourselves. It is very risky to experiment with them. Experience should be acquired on something less mission critical. That is why we start with reconstruction of other systems – historical, physical, biological, by and large, no matter what kind. The main thing is to verify whether the results match the assumptions. If they do not, we should improve our inventing apparatus (or the methodology of theoretical study, if this is more clear).

After having trained it well, we can invent how to improve our lives by going to work again.
